This picture I took while I was in Italy over the summer. From our hotel, looking over the balcony, there was a long row of motorized scooters all down the street. This was the case for many streets in Italy because motorized scooters are one of the main types of transportation there. In this instance, all the scooters are parallel lines. Each individual scooter is a horizontal line across the picture. Since they are all lined up like this, it creates a verticle line going up the picture plane. There are also pilars on the left hand side of the picture plane, which are diagonal lines from the angle the picture has been taken. This is an effective exploration of line because there are many lines going in several directions and it shows how this arrangement of motorized scooters is quite common in the Italian culture.
